How many calories should we be having a day?

Recommended Posts

I'm sure that this has been asked/answered before, but I'm not sure where to look, so I was wondering, how many calories should we be having a day? I'm trying to keep track on mydailyplate.com and wasn't sure.. Thanks!

Vanessa, Thats a loaded question.

My doc told me between 800 to 1200. Some say they don't lose if they eat less than 1000, some say they don't lose if they eat more than a 1000.

I try and keep it simple, I try and eat my 3 oz of Protein at bfast and lunch, lean Protein. Throw in a a veggie here and there and I lose. I figured it up once and I ate around 1100 calories.

You might just play around with it, see what or how many calories it takes for you to see results.

Its entirely personal, you have to figure that one out yourself.

I lost well on about 1500 a day which is a lot for a female. Then again, the charts all say that at my height and weight now, with the activity I do, I should be eating about 2,500 for maintenance. Trouble is, I'm also maintaining on about 1800. So if I went by the charts I'd be a bit rotund again by now!

around 1100 calories a day seems to work for me. But, everyone's body is different and there are all kinds of factors that need to be considered...height, weight, male/female, age, activity level, etc.

I eat about 800-1000 on days that I do minimal exercise. When I do exercise I usually take in about 1200. The extra is because I take Protein Shots after workout that are around 170 calories for 29 grams of Protein.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
