I'm LeAnn. I'm 27 and I live near Frederick, MD. I've been married for 7 years (as of yesterday :w00t:) and we have one son, who is 3. I've just started the process of getting a lap band and I feel entirely overwhelmed. I've been approved for my surgical consults with Dr Scot Currie and I'm in the process of getting my psych eval and such. I have my first appt with the surgeon's office on Friday and I have no idea what to ask! I know (from research on the internet) that he has a good track record and he's pretty darn cute. :cool2:
I'm 5'2 and 255 (BMI is 46%). I considered both banding and bypass, but I feel banding is the nest option for me. I'm young and this is both able to be reversed and it doesn't interfere with pregnancy, should we decide to have another child.
The only people I've told about this surgery is my husband and my parents. And, honestly, the only reason I told my parents is because I plan on letting them keep my son.
I don't plan on telling anyone else. My MIL would patronize me (despite desperately needing the same surgery, IMO) and it's just no one else's business. This is something I'm doing for my health and so I can be the mom I want to be to my son and hopefully have another baby one day. I don't want to be a fat mom forever. :wink2:
