Heartburn!!?? Why??

I am 7 days post op and experiencing the WORST heartburn. All I have tried to eat is cream of mushroom soup VERY SLOWLY. Since then, things have not felt right. Heartburn like crazy when I tried to drink gatorade. I am just going to give my stomach a break for the rest of the night. *Hiccup!* :nervous Ugh, please please please don't let it be a slip!! What could be wrong?? Why would I be having this terrible heartburn?? Liquids only!!

You are only a few days out -- most likely, it isn't heartburn as much as gas. I had that off and on for the first 2 weeks, then it went bye bye!

small sips of liquids only...it's probably reflux causing the heartburn pain because you are still so tight due to swelling. I know, I know, I remember well. It was only about 4 weeks ago when I was 2 weeks post-op and dealing with all that. it does get better if you keep your sips small. I'm sorry!

It's swelling, I can feel it now. My tummy gets mad at me randomly and just closes up! Not even water can go through when it's going through that. It has opened up enough to allow me to drink milk once, and I hope it opens tomorrow so that I can get some liquids through. Man, I have killer swelling...I know this is abnormal. In fact, my Dr told me that I am the 1st out of 900 surgeries that this has happend to. Gee, don't I feel special! :)

I did this same thing Hamu!! It IS swelling and why it lasts longer in me and you I have no clue about, but just go slow. Milk will go down better than Water, so will gatorade or Boost. For some reason if it's a little thicker or slimier than water is gurgles down better. Also, warm chicken broth is yummy.

Keep us posted! :)

Hamu, about 3 days post-op I was having something like this. I started taking a couple of chewable pepcid's (found at any store - OTC) This really helped me.

Although just for safetly reasons, you may want to contact your surgeons office and see what they recommend. :)
