thinking about having lap band surgery

i have my first appointment with my surgeon on august 1. I am going to go to silver cross hospital in joliet illinois. Has anyone been there? What was your experience like? I will be talking to dr. Joyce. I am an insulin dependant diabetic. I so much what to get off insulin or cut back on my injections. I have my concerns about surgery. Does anyone regret having the procedure?
