Hi All -

Iwas banded in January '08 and am on doxycycline for a minor skin infection. My dermatologist warned me about heartburn being a common side effect but seeing as I'm banded, the heartburn and chest tightness is pretty intense. I have a call into my surgeon but was wondering if anyone has had a similar experience?

Hi..well I had ALOT of problems with doxicycline..and actually Im allergic to it..but anyways I took it and started throwing up black stuff. As far as I know..Doxicycline is a crappy antibiotic lol..Id ask for something different if it is giving u that much problem..es. with a band..

Check with your band surgeon. Doxycycline is a good drug for skin infections, but you might need it in a different form (it's available as a liquid, which might help) or your band doc might want you on something different. There are other options, so you might need to be on something different. Good luck.
