July Butterflies Master Thread

Hi everyone--I thought I'd listen to some advice from one of the other monthly groups and start one master thread in which we have an ongoing discussion/updates. I don't know about you all but I certainly spend most of my time on these boards on the pre-op forum and the general forum, not here. It would be nice to have just one thread to go to once in this forum.

We can maybe start out with introductions?

As for me, I'm going the "online privacy" route for now (paranoid that people I haven't told about this will somehow stumble across me on this site I guess, which is crazy, I know) but I can give you the big picture:

You can call me Penny, I'm 27, single and live in the Washington, DC area. I have a background in politics (which is why I live in DC) but now I'm a librarian which is much cooler and way more fun (trust me on that). Oh, and there's no "Marion the Librarian" thing with me either. One of the things I hear most frequently (besides the cliche "you have such a pretty face") is "but you don't LOOK like a librarian", which is another one of those bizarre backhanded compliments that you never really know how to take.

Personality wise, I'm kind of dorky, big into public radio and books and popular science. Oh, I'm also a little on the paranoid side (as you may be able to tell from earlier in this post). Beyond that I'm just kind of silly and friendly, VERY much so into traveling and I'm an aspiring "green" domestic diva (but that's not going so well).

I haven't posted any pics in while, because I am not near my goal. I don't even have a REAL before.

The one I have here is 1 month post op and I had already lost 20lbs. THAT tells you why I don't have a before...Jeez. In the "before" I am wearing size 6T blue LB right fit jeans. In the "during" I have the same style jeans, but they are a 1T which is the smallest LB makes. The shirt in the before is a 3X and the "during" is an Old Navy Large. I can't believe I am posting this... It seems I am having the same problem kimaly is having...my boobs aren't going anywhere!!!

Girl, you look great! I think July Butterflies have good reason to be proud.

My weight is stuck. I go to the dr for a fill on thursday, but I am not sure if I need one. We will see.

I am also going to Dr Davis' support group on Tues night. I finally have someone to go with me. Last month there were about 25 in the group. All of them were bypass except for me. I think one had her band removed and one had a revision to a bypass because her port was infected. The diet is the same.

I am in the middle of a killer plateau. I just MUST get off my behind and MOVE. I joined the gym, but right now the dang thing is so busy when I can go that I hate to wait for the machines. I am certain, however, that most people will quit going by March. That is what the lady at the gym says happens every year...so until then, I wait or don't go. I may also go in for a tiny fill. I don't want a lot, maybe just .25ccs. I am extremely afraid of becoming too tight, but I find I can eat a little more than I want.

I know what you mean about being too tight. It is a miserable feeling. I like tweaks......like.25 at a time. My doctor likes doing it that way. I know self pay probably would like to have bigger fills and fewer of them. My insurance has been paying except I have to pay a small amount. I just don't think I have ever reached a sweet spot. Right now, I am in a maintenance spot. I don't get full......I just eat by the calorie amount.

Crzytchr, You look Fantastic!

Forgot to thank you ladies for the comments.

Thank you, but my tummy isn't as flat as yours!!!

Hi All,

No, change here.......I haven't weighed......I just feel it. I did make a cherry cobbler and of course ate some. Okay, another week . I don't have any food events this week so maybe I will lose a lb.

My weight fluctuates up and down one pound, so I never change the ticker. Until I decide to exercise regularly it isn't going to drop. Luckily, I guess I don't overindulge toooooo much to make it go up. But believe me, I do indulge. Do Reeses Peanut Butter pumpkins, trees, hearts, eggs, ring anyone's bell? They are the work of the devil!!! When I walk down the isles they whisper to me "buy me, I am soooo good":scared2:

yes they are the devil they call my name too

My Tuesday weigh in: 2lbs lost this week. I'm really happy with that and please don't get me wrong when I say I just don't understand it. Last week I did everthing I should and lost nothing, This week I ate a whole box of chocolate covered cherries and drank 3 skinny cosmos.:) Sometimes this band just fustrates me:cursing: I just can't seem to figure it out. But a loss is a loss and I'll take it.

You Go Girl!!!!!! Sometimes you have to change things up.

I am frustrated. I have not lost since we started our challenge because I gain those 2lbs then I lose them. I am going to my doctor's support group tonight. I have a friend getting bypass. I am the only lap band in the group. I just had another friend go in for a revision from band to bypass. Watching my DH drop lbs so fast is really disheartening for me. I hate being the fastest one in the crowd. I am meeting with my high school friends on Sunday......many I haven't seen in 40 years. I am getting a case of the dreads...... Just venting my frustrations.
