HI,

I flew to San Diego from Georgia to have my surgery done in Tejuana. Dr Kuri and his staff was awesome and I would do it again in a heart beat. I flew back 3 days after surgery and did very well. Be sure to have loose clothing because I did swell quite a bit. In fact, I weighed 13 pounds more when I returned to Georgia than when I left. Kinda' freaked me out. But, 15 months later and 88 pounds lighter, I am very happy with my "Buddy". I still have only a slight fill from the original lap band and must have found my sweet spot because I only eat small bites of anything I want and it satisfies me. I am happy at 170 but I can tell I am still going to loose, so we will see what my weight stablilizes at. I am not buying a ton of 12's or 10's because I think they are going to be too big. :)

Good luck!!!!

Good luck newkimberly! Sip on Water and other liquids throughout the day so you don't get dehydrated. Try to get up and walk around a little bit so you don't get too weak. Focus on letting your body heal during this time period and don't get too focused on the scale. Healing is your top priority over the next few weeks!

Good luck! It's very exciting!

I felt great the first day, had my surgery at 1:00 p.m., was home by 4:30. I stayed up that night until 11:00 p.m. walking, watching TV, playing on the computer. I should have taken pain meds before I went to bed though - I woke up in the middle of the night feeling really sore. Pain meds work best if you take them BEFORE the pain is bad.

I was up early the next morning and not feeling too bad at all. But around the middle of the day it all caught up with me and I felt very sleepy. I slept a LOT for the rest of the day and the 2nd night.

My surgery was on a Thursday. I woke up on Sunday and realized I felt absolutely wonderful. I think part of it was just relief from the stress of researching the surgery, making decisions, arranging financing, etc. etc.

I could easily have traveled 4 days after surgery. I took more than a week off from work though and I'm glad I did. I found that I got tired pretty easily for a couple of weeks after surgery.

ANother question...what did everybody eat the first few days? I know they will give me suggestions as well. Do you even really have an appetite?

They should give you a list of what to eat (I mean drink)! The first few days for me was clear liquids...low calorie non-acidic fruit juice, broth, sugar-free Jello, etc. Honestly, I wasn't hungry at all for the first several days, and I had to force myself to sip liquids. Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
