Hi,

I'm new here - I have a consultation at the beginning of July, and hope to be banded shortly after that. My question is....does anyone have any regrets that they had the surgery? And secondly, do you think that most of the negative side effects that you have experienced are due to either eating too much, too fast, the wrong thing etc. I'm so excited about the prospect of having this done, but at the same time I'm cautious and want to be sure I'm doing the right thing.

Thanks everyone!

No regrets here, but I'm pretty new at the band  I have nothing bad to say at this point and sooooooooooooo glad I did not chicken out :crying:

I will say this, that the first 3 days are the worst as far as not feeling good and hurting after surgery........but I would do it again in a heart beat

I'm extremely happy I had it done. My surgery date was 3/26/08 and I'm down 40 lbs. I work with a trainer twice a week and walk or ride my bike other days. The surgery has really helped my control my eating.:thumbs_up::eek::crying::thumbs_up:

No regrets! It is the best thing I have ever done for myself. I feel great and am starting to look great. As for negative side effects, I've followed all of the rules and luckily have never gotten anything "stuck". Fills (which I was most worried about) are a breeze. Truthfully, the most negative thing I can say about my experience has been putting up with the insurance company. Everyone has different problems with it, but I can say that I've been very fortunate and am VERY happy with the results. GOOD LUCK!

Thanks so much for the positive words everyone...it's great to hear you've all had such positive experiences. It all seems so far away, but I could be banded in as little as two months. I think I need to take the bull by the horns and give it a shot, after all, as my friend told me, life is not a dress rehearsal!!

I have lost over 80lbs since my surgery last August. I look and feel better than I have in years, but honestly, I still have times that I crave certain foods like Pasta and bread. I miss it so much. I cant tolerate those foods since the band. But nothing is free in life, we have to make choices and I would choose the band again. Good luck.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
