Starting Up

Since no one in ND has posted, I'm hoping this will help us if we have an ND lurker out there. I am in Bismarck and starting to meet with St. A's next week. I understand today - April 27 - is the day the proctor is here to train the surgeon. I wanted this surgery 2 years ago (when my sister had WLS) but hesitated because I have to self-pay. Hoping to be banded late May - I'm eternally optimistic. Hope to hear from someone else in ND

Jodi and Yvonne - great questions.

After you wake up, you are tired and from what I remember, sore. I could't sleep on my port side for awhile. Some people sleep in a recliner for a few days.

I feel my port even now. Some days more than others.

But overall, I just feel like a smaller person!! Normal sized.

It still doesn't always sink in that I am no longer obese. In fact, I'm not even overweight!!! And I can just buy clothes...

Hmm, I am going through some mental things right now and it is good for me to remember these positive things. Good luck on your journey. Celeste

1) Right when I woke up I wanted to stay awake, but I just couldn't! I felt fine, just tired and sore around the middle. The woman next to me was dry heaving though, so I'm glad that I didn't have that experience.

2) I don't feel my port at all!

Good luck tomorrow Jodi!! Will be thinking of you!

Oh yeah........I GOT MY DATE!!.......November 14th is the day I enter band-land! Wow, I am sooooo excited! I go to Bismarck for pre-op stuff next week tuesday (10/17).

Hi Fluffy,

Am doing fairly well. Am at 40 lbs weight loss so far. I need a fill!!!! Am going to Bismarck on Thurs for a fill. Has been 2 months since my first fill. My first fill was 2 cc's. I still have no regrets. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Are you in Bismarck? or just having the surgery in Bismarck? What Doc?

I am in Bismarck (well, in the country about 10 miles out) and I am doctoring with Dr. Schmit at Mid-Dakota. Is that where you're going? I am so excited to hear about your weight loss. I can't wait to say that!!

Are you not in Bis.? Where are you may I ask?

I went to Dr Bruderer at MedCenter One. I think Jodi went to Dr Schmit. I live in Jamestown but grew up in the Bis/Man area, my family is still there.

It took me a while to find it but i finally did.:clap2:.

I live around the Bismarck/mandan Area and had my LB surgery done by Dr. Schmit. Although I didn't have a problem with the costs because my insurance company agreed to pay for it. I have not gone in for a group meeting afterwords... but I am on my 5-6 fill but one of them was so they could take some out. I'll be going in for my next check up on the 18th of june... On the 22nd I have to be in a wedding so hopefully I haven't lost too much I just had the dress refitted. But I probably have because I 've been helping my dad redo a mile of fence out on some property. :) I dont want to make the bride mad...

But good luck to everyone!!

Hey too all ND bandsters!

I have not been checking in lately. I have been doing well and had trouble getting into the site. Finally got it going again. I think it was with my computer. My son fixed it for me.

Does anyone still get together for a support group anywhere? I know there is one the medical people do but I did meet some gals from Bismarck at Red Lobster once. Would love to do that again. I live in Minot and I do have a friend here who has a band and we could come together.

I am just at the 50 lbs mark. My loss has been slow but sure. I think the best part of being banded is that the weight does not seem to come

back once I have worked hard to lose it. Before I could put back on a 5 lb loss in a week end fling. Now I have obvious limits and I don't have any choice in the issue. I still sometimes have things I shouldn't and suffer some for it but feel good as a rule.

If any one would like to respond I would love to converse.

Darlene
