need some tips

hey all..im moving along with the process of having the lapband...next i need to have my personal write a letter on my behalf...saying i ve tried to lose weight etc.and that this is the right thing for me etc...any tips on what he should write would be greatly appreciated..i guess theinsurance co. needs to see this....jumping thru hoops here..is that typical? ty

I am at the same stage of the proces. I am going to set up and appt w/PCP and ask that he write the letter. He is not a champion for the surgery, so I am going to have to work on him. I hope this isn't what holds up the process for me.

I would just have him state that he was talked with you X # of times about weight loss, he knows that you have tried X Y Z and that he feels you are a canidate for the procedure. Good Luck.

I have united and had to send them the same thing. its basically just a letter that states your current health issues, mental state, previous attempts at weightloss and I included how my weight daily effects me in all areas of my life. How the surgery would save me and reduce the number of dr's visits for them. To have it would be preventitive and more cost effective. hope this helps :) goodluck
