hi! i want to know too! i dont feel that i was told enough about fills. i see the surgeon for first post surgery visit on friday may 30. which will be five weeks after the surgery. i asked the nurse will this be for fill and she said "depends" on what? i dont know...

i can eat anything now as long as i chew really slowly.. havent had any vomiting or anything. does this change after the first fill?

Hi from fellow Australian....

It really depends on how well / quickly you heal. I progressed quite well, and was booked in for first fill 4 weeks post op. That didn't work due to some scar tissue around my incision - but 6 weeks post op it went very well. I have appointment in 4 weeks time for evaluation to see if I want/need a 2nd fill.

I think the general guideline is when you get to point of having hunger after going back onto solid foods you can be evaluated for a fill.

My doctor waits 6 weeks post op for the first fill. That seemed like an eternity to me, but everything has worked out really well since then so I can't complain. I think every doc is different.

I think I am ready for a fill because I am now starting to want to snack again, or is this just old behavior patterns popping up. The only time I feel like snacking is in the evening when my hubby and I are watching tv and he heads for the ice cream. I am 13 days post op and have lost about 19 lbs although the weight loss has now stopped since I started eating soft foods. I have had no real problems except the other day when I forgot myself and ate some crackers.........got my first experience of pbing!! Becky

most doctors wait 6 weeks before giving a fill. your doctor most likely told you "it depends" because if your weight loss is going good, youre feeling good and youre not getting the hungry feeling then he/she may not give you a fill. Everyone is different when it comes to fills so listen to your body and dont get a fill just because you think you have to.
