Okies . . . I'm a year younger today (yeah, yeah, that's a shameless plug for birthday wishes, I'm very bad :rolleyes2:) . . . but I wanted to share my celebration . . . I'm going shopping for some NEW CLOTHES this weekend, yahoo! I need something that fits, LOL :bananapowerslide: Time to treat myself to some new outfits!

Plus, I got me a personal exercise trainer! He's very handsome, young, golden blond hair, beautiful soft brown eyes, trim, fit, he's just gorgeous! He's gonna help me get into shape for sure!

And best of all, my hubby's not jealous!

Ok . . . here's a picture of him:

Finally, I'm a dog owner! YEAH! I've been wanting one for a while. This is Jasper, my new Golden Retriever puppy. We're gonna be doing some serious exercising together! :target: Jasper is still with his mother, but I'll be picking him up this coming Sunday. I can't wait!

More pictures to come . . . I might even get brave, and put me in one of them! :P

OMG Lori.....HE'S GORGEOUS!!!! I'm so excited for you!! I know you've been wanting a puppy for awhile and I'm just so thrilled that you have a new member of your family. Awwww....big hugs to you, my friend:huggie: Now we can BOTH be crazy dog ladies!!

And congratulations on your upcoming shopping spree!!:crying: I was going to reply to your other thread talking about the dreaded "in between sizes" (UGH that's the worst) but it sounds like you've pushed past a plateau....CONGRATULATIONS!!

Again, I'm so darn happy for you and Jasper is INSANELY CUTE. Trust me, as an owner of a Golden Retriever, he will DEFINITELY keep you moving. Can't wait to hear more updates on him (and you of course)

BIG HUGS!!

Happy Birthday!

Why do I feel like Frosty everytime I say that? Anyway, have a fantastic time. Enjoy the shopping and the new puppy! I have two and a cat, they definately can keep you busy.

Guess Squishy isn't a very good name for a dog. Still... just keep swimming.

So cute!!! I am jealous! My "puppy" is 7 years old and a great trainer! I bet Jasper is going to be great! He will probably good for weight lifting for a while before he is able to go on those walks.

What did you buy for your birthday?

I'm off in a moment here to go on my "shopping spree" . . . hoping to find some nice summer outfits!

ReadySteadyGo - Jasper the friendly dog, LOL! Cute! Not to be confused with Casper the friendly ghost, yes? hehe

Amy - Thanks for your kind words sweetie! Well, I always was crazy, but yes, now I can add dog to it! I pick Jasper up tomorrow, I can't wait!

Michelle - hubby bought me a watch, and the shopping spree is part of the birthday celebration. My personal trainer/puppy just happened to come about at this time - I've been looking for that "special friend" for awhile now.

Thanks again everyone - you all mean so much!:rolleyes2:

Yes, by all means, post some pics of those new birthday clothes! I just can't bring myself to do a lot of shopping yet. I did buy a pair of size 16 pants to wear to my nephew's graduation. That was 3 weeks ago, and I put them on today, and I'll be danged if they're not already a little baggy. I'm going home today and try on some of the 14s in my closet. I am absolutely amazed at what a huge difference 5 or 10 pounds make in how my clothes fit. Is this cool, or what?

Ha! I guess I'm late to the party. Well, Happy Belated Birthday anyway! Hope it was as great as it sounded.

Your new baby is cute as ever! He will keep you moving, moving, moving... that's for sure!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
