Can anyone tell me how coffee goes after being banded. Every morning a group of us has coffee at the local quick stop and it is a social thing so I would hate to not go. I was wondering how soon you can drink coffee and does it bother you? Thanks for the advice.

here's bad news Kathy reporting...I suspect coffee MIGHT have contributed to my recent trouble with stoma swelling post-surgery. I really blame it on the V-8 juice, which was on my menu, but I think adding just my regular cup of coffee in the mornings probably didn't help due to acidity. I used to have an Iron stomach, so I was certain it would be no problem but I have not had coffee since Wed morning (5 days now) due to my swelling problems. So for me, I'm not risking it right now. Maybe down the road to healing, a few more weeks, I'll add it back, because I LOVE my morning coffee, but for now the acid is too much and it's not worth it.

It's worth a try, and should be fine, but at the first sign of any diffuculty with swallowing your liquids, that would be one of the first things to go, in my opinion. And I wouldn't wish this past week on my worst enemy.

Try hot chocolate made with extra Water instead, early on. It's a good substitute, warm yummy, and in a coffee cup like your regular routine. You'll be fine. I really hope coffee goes well for you, it's such a good thing and I'm really missing it right now!

Ive had coffee since day 3.

Never had problems with it!

But I also agree with Kathy. If you find that it aggitates your stomach, you may want to switch to hot coca until you get further down the banded road!

Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
