Upset and Frustrated

I'm trying to remain calm, but so far not having much luck. My surgery is scheduled for May 21, but I may have to reschedule it. On Sunday I started having some pain in my mouth. I thought it was the bottom right wisdom tooth giving me some issues. To make a very long story short, I ended up in the ER last night. The entire right side of my face was swollen, as were the glands on that side, and that side of my face was flushed. Basically I think the wisdom tooth is absessed. They put me on an IV with antibiotics and sent me home later with more antibiotics and Vicodin. I called my surgeon this morning once I got out of the Vicodin fog and told them what was going on. I have to call them back after my dentist appointment this afternoon, but I may have to reschedule the surgery because of this. What a pain, in more ways than one. But I guess it is what it is and will have to accept whatever happens...it's just that I was getting so excited because I knew in a week I would be in bandland...sighhhhhh....

Hey girl,

I know exactly how you feel! I was scheduled to have my surgery last monday may 12th. But last week i got a bump on my lower back and i thought it was a boil and it would go away. Nope it didnt i ended up in the ER saturday night and the er doctor made me tell my surgeon. My surgeon said there is no way we will operate on you with a infection.i cried and cried on saturday! So hopefully since you have a whole week to get better you can still have yours! I will pray for you. My surgery is rescheduled for june2. Either way if you have it or not next week nothing can stop you:thumbup:.

I'm so sorry to hear that. My surgery is tomorrow and I've been nervous that something like that would happen with me (seems like it's always something with my teeth too). It's really for the best, you want to be 100% healthy when you put your body through surgery.... but so frustrating. Hope you're feeling better real soon and can get a new surgery date.

Thank you. I will find out tomorrow what the surgeon says. I'm hoping that because I will have been on the antibiotics for 7 days by then, they will still go ahead and do the surgery. But I will find out for sure tomorrow.

Allie, There is no pain in the world like tooth pain. (Sorry no kids, to know about labor) I'm sure everything will work out for the best. Usually the pain has recided about 24-48 hours after you start your antibiotics. Good Luck!:biggrin2:
