No wonder I feel better..

Yesterday I bought a big bag of dog food, and a bag of bird seed. I had trouble lifting the 44 pound bag of dog food into the cart, and the bird seed was even heavier and denser. But, I managed. Then, as I was unloading from the van, I looked at the bird seed bag - 50 pounds! I could hardly lift that thing (I'm supposed to be taking it easy 10 days post op), and I realized, I've lost THIS MUCH weight!

I can't imagine walking around with this bag strapped to me. It was SO heavy. And yet, that's exactly what I did!

No wonder I have so much energy now -- and I can only imagine how great I will feel with the other two are gone too!:tongue_smilie:

Hi Liza, I'm only 4 1/2 weeks out post op and I was told no heavy lifting over 10 lbs for the first 6 weeks, please be careful I'd hate to see your band slip or your port flip, don't forget this is the healing period.

Congrats on your weight loss, that's fantastic!!

That is wonderfun....That's the exact thing i tell people... i'm like when i have more energy i will be able to do more things... it is amazing how loosing the weight makes u move faster...

My surgeon didn't permit me to lift more than 10# for five weeks--which is when I went back to Curves. I couldn't go back to the YMCA for seven weeks and even then I was very careful for a month.

I get what you're saying: you've lost the entire bag of bird seed and I know you're getting to feel terrific--but while your outside looks healed, there is a ton of healing going on INSIDE that you must take care of. Whether your surgeon told you or not, please be very careful. It's only for a short time but can save you a lot of trouble down the road.

I think what she is saying is that she was 50lbs heavier so picking up the seeds and the pet food wasen't really a prob. when she looked at it in retrospect...

Hi

You're right...lifting it probably was too much, but actually, as far as I know, I am not on any restrictions now - only 5# restriction the first week, now I can do what I feel up to. However, thanks for the concern - and I don't plan on doing that much lifting again soon. I actually only lifted it into the cart & car, and when I saw how heavy it was at home, had my daughter carrry it into the garage!
