So Embarrassed... First Fill

 I'm soooo embarrassed. I passed out twice while having my fill. The stuff they make you drink made me sick, but instead of throwing up I passed out. Then they got me into a wheelchair and I passed out again! UGH.... Has this happened to anyone else??:rolleyes2:

Thanks Ann

What did they make you drink?? This is the first time I have read that anyone had to drink something. Was it done with flouoscopy?

Thanks,

Mary

they make u drink some white stuff , but never passed out sorry this happen to u maybe u was scared of the whole fill process. hopefully next time everything goes well

I had a bad experience with my first fill too. I didn't pass out, but I whimpered and whined a lot. My doctor had to stick me several times and it seemed like he was rolling the needle around. I think there must have been some scar tissue over the port because he really had a difficult time. Anyway, he wanted to put in 1 1/2 in, but I told him to put in 1--I should have listened to him. I don't have much restriction. After being banded over 2 years, that was my first fill. I have lost about 70 pounds--so I will probably not get another fill for a while.

They make you drink some barium liquid. it is thick and gritty. made me ill lol. I think I was just REALLY scared and that made it all worse. :)

I almost passed out during my first fill. It was because I had not eaten before, I had to get stuck several times (port was tilted and unable to align needle with porthole) and my blood sugar dropped. I have had three fills since then and no problems.
