5 hours until surgery and scared to death!!

I was up half the night because my nerves wouldn't let me sleep!! The three day liquid diet was coming out all night as well. Now I have a tickle in my throat and a slight cough. Could just be dry mouth and allergies. Should I worry or call my surgeon? Have I turned into a hypochondraic? I have never had surgery before and I am soooooo freaking nervous!!

Hi, I know how you feel. I got banded on April 3rd and was nervous because I did not know what to expect. I feel good and the surgery went well. Just think positive thoughts. I was out of surgery and home before I knew it. I am happy I did it. The people on this board are an excellent support group. Let us know how you did when you get home. Good Luck!!!!:purplebananna:

Oooh - you are going to be just fine and laugh about how worried you were after you are banded. I never had surgery before either and I want to have another band put in just so I can get pampered again!!! It was such a simple experience.

To piggyback on the other replies, you really don't have to worry about anything. You will be amazed at how you feel after the surgery. It was a very good experience because I didn't have a lot of soreness afterwards and my cravings were gone. I have only had to take 2 advil to relieve the soreness and that was when i came home. I was banded April 2. I think a lot of it is about attitude. A couple days before surgery I was a little skeptical and second guessing but I started thinking about all the times I tried to lose and didn't for whatever reason. That soothed my thoughts and made me confident that this was the solution. I made up in my mind that the lap band surgery was going to work and I finally was doing something that will GUARANTEE weight loss and make me slim one day!! Stay positive and keep your head up!

It may be the nerves just getting to you. I will say a little prayer for you. Good luck and congrats. Keep us posted when you feel up to it.

I had never had surgery before either, and the only thing i can say is trust in your surgeon, and trust in yourself! I have had hardly any pain since surgery and absolutely no complications. Everything went smooth as silk and I wasn't nervous at all.
