Just Banded

Hi there,

I was just banded last thursday 03/10/05. Had a ruff time of it but getiing better slowly. The only problem I seem to be having is that it is pretty red around my port area. So I have been cleaning and using the ointment they gave me a few extra times. Any sugesstion? I wanted to say that I was banded with doctor Lopez and I feel like everything there was good but I have just read a few stories which made me a little scared!!! Any positve support for me????

Thanks

Congratulations on your banding ;)

Pain and redness around the port area seem to be fairly common after surgery. Just remember to take it easy for a while and try not to overdue.

There are good and bad things said about a lot of doctors, hospitals, patient coordinators ect..... Don't try to let someone's else's bad experience scare you now. Just concentrate on your own health and situation.

Take care!!

Congratulations on being banded. Welcome to bandland.

I was banded by Lopez as well. I had a redness around the port site that was the size of a grapefruit about two weeks out but I realized I was sensitive to the glue they use to close the incision sites. I used hydrocortisone cream to calm it down and it eventually went away. If it persists or starts blistering then you should contact Lopez. Do you have aftercare set up? That was one of my complaints about Lopez that his aftercare sucked. But I hear he has improved it now so maybe it is ok.

When in doubt what it might be always call your doc.
