1 yr. later, no weight loss :(

I am so frustrated, I just want to pull my hair out!!! Last year on Feb. 16, 2006 Dr. Steven Malley performed my lap band surgery. I was doing really good there for a while...losing weight steadily. I actually got to the point where I had lost about 60lbs. and 3 dress sizes. Now, I go into his office and get weighed and I have somehow not only managed to gain 17lbs. in the past month! But, I also weigh 1 lb. more than I did the day of surgery a year ago. I just don't know what to do. I wonder sometimes if I made the right decision or if I should have gone more extreme with like a gastric bypass. Is anyone else struggling the way I am. What are you doing that helps lose the weight? There is a part of me that just wants to give up and start shoveling chocolate cake in my mouth, but then I think about how good I felt just a few months back when I was down three sizes. What kind of diets are you guys doing. What foods seem to work best for you, in respect to going down easily but yet still making you full? Any imput and advice that you guys have would really be uplifting to me right now. I just feel like such a failure. This time last year I was thinking about a year from then, like right now I expected that I would have lost 70 or 80 lbs. and be going strong. Instead, I am exactly the opposite. Please HELP!!!

Jena,

I just read your post and then read about the book you recommended, The Beck Diet Solution..The idea of using CBT to help with this journey really appeals to me. Even with the band, I worry about putting the weight back on at some point so I think this will really be helpful. Thanks for the tip.

Trissie, I think maybe you feel like I feel at times. Something like, no one really cares so what's the use. Maybe aggrevating family issues come up and seem to pull us under the surface. These can all be true at times. I think the suggestation of writing what you eat for a week on this site can get you started again. Also I think you can tell from the responses to your comment that people here really do care and want to help you to succeed because they want you to be happy. They want to help you any way they can. Perhaps a fill would help. I certainly hope it helps me on Monday. Anyway, if you or anyone else wants to email me just to bat around ideas my email is tzirbel@hotmail.com. Keep trying. The only way we don't succeed is when we totally give up. The good thing is that there are many ways to succeed.

It is simple. Don't get all dramatic. If you come here and tell us you are not losing and in fact are gaining then its simple. Providing no weird medical thing is present. You are not working your band. When that happens I find its usually lack of information and quality support.

The laws of thermal dynamics won't change for you. !000 calories in with a 1000 calories burned through normal life and some exercise = weightloss.

Are you consuming no more than 1000 to 1200 calories per day?

Are you getting the protien you need?

Are you getting in the Water you need?

Are you getting the exercise you need?

Youre Obviously Eating The Wrong Things And Too Much Of It

I Love Pizza And I Dont Deny Myself But I Exercise, I Eat Other Healthy Things, I Drink A Protein Every Morning, Just Be Truthful To Yourself I Was Plateaued For A Long Time The Last 4-5 Months Havent Lost A Thing, I Got Another Fill, Thats Was Too Tight, Went Back Not I Can Eat Like A Bird, And 3 Lbs Came Off.... But When Im Able To Enjoy A Slice Of Pizza W/o Choking I Know It's Time For Tightening! Be Truthful To Urself And It Happens! Ps Slim Bear Icecream Are The Bomb! 100 Caloires

The Beck Diet Solution is a great book. I have to read it all the time to stay motivated. I do the things that the book suggests, but somehow reading some of the chapters over again gets me motivated again.

Making exercise a priority in my life has made a huge difference. It's not something I can talk myself out of, it's just what I do every morning.
