Questions

I am looking into LB, but I am terrified that something will go horribly wrong. I have an 11month old son and I am afraid that I would die in surgery; then again I’m afraid that being unhealthy will take him from me as well…

My husband ran out of us when he was only 6weeks old and so its up to me to take care of him (his dad does see him its just me that he didn’t want anymore, I got trade up for a younger, dumber, thinner girl:broken_heart:) and I am afraid that I wont be able to lift him or take care of him after having this done. I do have a bf but he works opposite shifts than me. I would probably be able to have my mom come stay with me for a week, maybe two.

Any advice?

Ash, I feel your pain in more way than one, I have a 5 year old Daughter that I couldn't stand the thought of leaving, here's what my deciding factor was though, I wouldnt go out anymore or take a family vacation because I was embarassed that people would look at me because of my weight I was mostly staying at home.. sure I spent time with my Daughter, but it wasn't quality time. If I lose the weight.. which now I will because I've been banded I can live a more productive life along with my Daughter, screw your EX, that's what I said to mine, he doesn't deserve you or your Daughter, you can do it. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for all the support. I did make my decision to get banded to live a better life for me and my son… Even though I found out today that my Companies insurance will not cover any thing for obesity regardless of the health issues it may cause. Though luckily for me I am healthy other than being almost 100lbs over my weight on the height chart. I am currently in the middle of trying to refinance my house to get my ex-husbands name off it. Once that is taken care of I am looking into getting financing for the lap band procedure.

I know after all the interest and what not this will cost me almost as much as a car lol, it’s worth it. I’ve been over weight since for 17yrs and my mother is as well I remember the shame I felt as her as a child and shame I felt/feel towards myself. I don’t want that any more and I don’t want my child to be ashamed of me either.:)

Good luck to all of you guys getting banded soon and thank you guys for your insight who have been banded. I really hope that I can get this done before my birthday so I can start being a new person by then. Until then I plan on continuing on with my diets trying to get some of this weight off and then hopefully I’ll get banded to help keep it off for once and lose even more! :) I’d love to take my son swimming for the first time this summer.
