I need a swift kick in the...

So here I am almost 3 weeks out of surgery... and I don't exercise, at all. Nothing, zip, nada. To be honest I never even really walked much during the post op gas phase because I didn't really have to. So here I am with a Curves membership that I have had since last hmmm June (did I mention I only went for like a month when I had it lol) and an elliptical sitting in my living room yet you think I have gotten up/out to use either? Nope not at all. So obviously I have a LAZYNESS issue (duh, that's how I got fat haha) but can anyone give me some pointers on how to kick myself in the @$$ and get on it? :smile2:

OMG, I'm so sick of my making excuses not to exercise! This is my declaration to do better. Everyday I think before I go to work, I should get some clothes together and go to the gym after work, then I think I don't have time, I've got dinner plans or I've got a Drs appt or its just too cold!! ENOUGH, I've got to do this, I've got to do this, I've got to do this!!

I can't help but think of Jacqui from Australia, SHUT YOUR GOB AND MOVE YOUR ASS!! She's so right and she's such a success!! So thats it no more excuses!! I've gotta work it.

Ang,

I hear you about the elliptical. I moved mine out to my balcony because I couldn't stand the guilt of facing it every morning noon and night!! For me, I'm still really heavy, and moving hurts!! So here's a suggestion...you're in BC right? The weather there is pretty mild? Do you have a lunch hour at work? I know it doesn't take a whole hour to eat your 3oz. of Protein right? Take 30 minutes, or even 15 and go for a walk around the block. That way you are exercising AND getting some fresh air in your lungs instead of staring mindlessly at the TV or the wall while going nowhere on an elliptical or treadmill. :)

Hey Andrea, I understand what you mean about being heavy and not wanting to use it yet - I think that's the biggest deterent for me right now. But at the same time I also realize that to be less heavy I need to exercise so it's like damned if ya do, damned if ya don't.

I do live in BC and in the lower mainland so when it's not raining it is usually mild yup. However, unfortunately I only get 1/2 hr lunch breaks which doesn't allow for much besides slowly eating my lunch otherwise that's a fantastic idea.

I am moving in a couple of weeks so my evenings after work are spent packing up my house and once this hecticness is over I am going back to Curves for sure (doc gave me the a-o-k). And, I will have no excuse because it's within walking distance of my new house, haha.

I really like the idea of Curves and have thought about joining. I'm just afraid that until I get motivated to exercise I will end up not going and throwing my money away. I like that its women only and that most people going are not the usual muscle heads you meet at the gym. I'm in Toronto and really had quite enough of winter. We have gotten pummelled by snow this month and I can't wait for Spring to get out there and get active. I'm going to Disney World in April and want to be able to have fun and not be worried about hurting every day from walking all over the place. I need to get my oversized but into overdrive. :tongue2:
