Adjusting to changing shape

I was posting my myspace blog and talking about my shape changing and the issues I'm having believing how different I am starting to be physically. I purchased a sweater on Sunday and on Monday, went to put it on. When I looked at it, since it is smaller that what I'm 'used' to wearing, I had a gut-wrenching panic and denial that I could wear that sweater. I told my husband, "I can't wear that! It'll be too small! I just don't think I can put it on!" Of course, he looked at me like I had lost my ever-loving mind and giving me the 'then why the hell did you buy it' look. You know the look... the one that says "OMG, she's been to Zappos/C.J. Banks/T. J. Maxx/Kirkland's/Old Time Pottery/shopping, etc again" look. He, in his infinite wisdom, kept his mouth shut. Anyway, I put that sweater on and it fit, perfectly, if not a little big. I really have no idea how to adjust my thinking when it comes to appearance. Honestly, I hope that I adjust mentally, as easily as I have physically.

Our perception is just messed up. I was shopping this last weekend. I picked up a size 10 jeans and thought they were way too small. They fit (yea!).

Then I go looking for another style of jeans and when I look at the size 10 I think that they look huge - like look at the size of that butt!! They fit too (yea!).

what's up with that?

Hi All

I hate to say this but a relative of mine had gastric stapling surgery 12 years ago & she still looks at clothes in shops that are far to big for her!

I wonder if you know you have lost the weight but your head tells you

something different when looking at clothes???

She looks great though & am really proud of her !!!!!

I have always said I have a skinny person inside trying to get out... now I wonder if when I finally get thin, if I will still have a fat lady hiding in the closet.

I'm a manager at an Old Navy store, and I have this one customer, she was in our store shopping one day, Looking very very lost, dressed in sweats at the time. So I went over and asked if I could help her find something in particular. She wanted to know where the plus section was? I told her we didn't have one at this store, But that I didn't think she needed a plus section and that I could help her find the right size. she too mee looked to be about a size 12-14 in bottoms and a large or xlarge top... she said no she wanted plus size clothes!!!! After a little bit of chit chat I found out she had gastric bypass and had lost 100 pounds so far and this was really her first time out shopping since losing the weight. I finally after much encouragement was able to pick out some clothes that I thought would fit her and she might actually like. We went to the dressing room, and she was estatic to come out in the size 14. So for the next hour I kept brining her clothes to try... she was in tears when she left as she has never been under a size 20 ever she said.... She became one of my best customers. She still to this day thinks of herself as alot bigger and always wants me to find her a bigger size.....
