Steristrips

Hey everyone, I am 6 days post-op and just wanted to know when I can stop covering the steristrips. They are itching like crazy, but there is no discharge and the wounds look great :)

Thanks All.

I has my surgery in December and I was told I could stop covering the steri strips when I took a shower the day after going home. I don't know if that's normal procedure or not.

My surgery was on Dec. 31 and I asked them specifically about this. They said to try not to get them wet in the shower (not possible) and when they start to come off by themselves then it is ok to go ahead and peel it off the rest of the way. Itching is good! Means it is healing nicely.

Hope this helps!

My steristrips have pretty much come off. My incisions really itch! My surgeon didn't seem concerned and said that I was healing nicely. I just hope the itching goes away soon......

The bandages over the steri strips can come off the day after surgery. You are supposed to let the steri strips fall off. Most of mine fell off about 2 weeks. If there were any left after 2 weeks then I just took it off.
