Sorry I can't help you. Myself, my sister and my mom all have used Dr. Paya with fantastic results. Only problem - gotta buy new wardrobe. We have loved him and his staff. :)

i had dr payA GIVE ME THE LAP BAND IN AUG OF 07....I HAVE NOT LOST ONE POUND.I LOST 20 WITH THE OPTIFAST SHAKES BEFORE SURGERY BUT GAINED IT BACK SHORTLY AFTER.......IM STILL HUNGRY AND I CAN STILL EAT ALOT....THE ONLY THING THAT I CANT DO IS SWALLOW FOOD LIKE REGULAR PEOPLE....I HAVE TO CHEW EVERY THING UP INTO BABY FOOD SIZE OR IT WILL GET STUCK IN MY THROAT AND IT HURTS ALOT. 16,000$ IN CASH DOWN THE DRAIN:mad2:

mars: No judgement here, believe me. But it is so easy to get off track with the band. One thing to avoid is what they call the "soft diet syndrome". I have suffered this myself without even realizing it. Sometimes banders don't realize that they really should only be eating about 1/2 cup of food at a time, its foreign to us so we will gravitate toward soft easy to get down foods. Those calories really add up, I battle this myself. Take a look at your diet, you should be comsuming about 1/4-1/2 cup of solid protein at meals, well chewed. Like 1/2 a chicken breast or what have you. You have to keep up on your fills of course, and exercise. I am a slow loser myself, so I have suffered all the pit falls too. Try eating very small portions of dense proteins, several times a day, without fluids, and well chewed. Also I recommend the book "The success habits of weight loss surgery patients" by Colleen Cook. Its really good, it talks a lot about personal accountability. I know its hard, I know your trying, but there is help out here for you. You can do this!!! Feel free to PM me if you want to, I've been where you are, I promise there's a way out. I'll be thinking of you, and hoping that we can speak sometime soon.

I GOT THE BAND WITH DR. PAYA FEB, 16 08 AT HIS GLENDALE OFFICE. I'M SUPER HAPPY:thumbup:.. I'VE LOST 41 LBS SINCE NO PREOP DIET FOR ME I'VE HAD TWO FILLS AND I DO CHEW MY FOOD WELL BUT NOT TO THE POINT WHERE I CAN CALL IT BABY FOOD BITES:tongue2:... I ALSO PAID 16 GRAND OUT OF POCKET AND IM SO FAR HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS.. I ALSO HAVE THE NEW CLOTHES PROBLEM... BUT FOR THE FIRST TIME I CAN BUY NEW CLOTHES WITHOUT FEELLING LIKE IM NOT GONNA FIT!....:lol:.. JUST REMEMBER.... EMPTY LIQUID CALORIES ARE THE WORST!..... :tongue2:

Thanks Tsunami for the information! You make so much sense. So many people think the band will be the miracle! You also have to work at it to loose weight. I am a slow looser - but am thrilled that I have lost weight and know I have to work at it to loose more.

I will definitely get the book you recommended.

I am a patient of Mark Paya and have had absolutely no problems. I find him and his staff to be terrific!

For those blaming the doctor - don't assume that it is always the doctor's fault for the lack of success - you have to work at it!

Terri

I have a band placed by Dr paya as well. I had my band placed in Nov. 06. To date I have lost -125, and I plan on another 25 coming off before my 2nd year ann. I am happy with Dr. Paya and have had 0 problems.

My DH had a different Dr for his RNY, and I wish he had Dr Paya as well. He gets no attention at all from his Dr. Thankfully he hasnt had any problems.:)

Wow Val - what great weight loss!!! :)

I am just beginning the journey 5/22 and had my first fill on Wednesday with Dr. Paya.

It is wonderful to hear success stories like yours!

I agree, Dr. Paya has been terrific!

Terri - good luck with your last 25!
