Hi. I have an appointment with a surgeon affiliated with NYU Langone (Dr. Geroge Ferzli) on Monday afternoon and I wanted to know your guys' experience with them.

What was the process with them like, did they require the 6 month supervised diet? (my insurance is NY HealthFirst Medicaid managed care and I dont think they require that).

What was discussed in your consultation? How long did the first meeting take? I am very nervous, and I need some insight.

I didn't go to them, but the only six-month diet requirements I've heard of are the insurance company's requirements, not the surgeon's. Of course, there may be some surgeons that require it, but the only ones I've heard about are because of the insurance company. A lot of surgeons (although not all) do require a special two-week diet before the surgery, though (usually just fluids and protein shakes - or some let you have one small meal as well)
