Vitamin Query

Post-op my dietician recommended Flintstones Complete to get my full nutritional supplement. I was only too happy to have childhood nostalgia and my daily necessary intake satisfied by a sugary, addictive little chew-able pill.

Now? Not so much. I stopped taking the pills shaped like Bam Bam and Pebbles a month ago because they were just disgusting. But I've run into a road block and my hair is falling out to boot. When I tried switching to a regular (read=horse-pill) multi-Vitamin (Women's One a Day, etc...) I've gotten horribly, painfully sick. I think it's about the length of time it sits in my stomach pouch, like a control release pill.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where/how to get either liquid form, or know of another chewable (non-foul) multi-vitamin??

Any advice appreciated!

I tried the chewable Vitamins and they made me gag. My friend told me about the chocolate chewable's by VIACTIVE ( sold at wal mart) Multi Vitamine. Works great and taste like a treat !! only 20 cal per square.

C/C:whoo:

My doc's office recommended Citracal Creamy Bites. The lemon is nasty, the caramel and chocolate aren't half bad. Just make sure when you take your calcium that you don't take it at the same time as your multi-vitamin because the Iron can interfere with absorbtion. And don't take more than 500 mg of calcium...your body can only handle that much at once.

My doctor recommends calcium citrate rather than calcium carbonate and the Citracal is calcium citrate. I plan to switch to those next so thanks for the flavor recommendation. I used to love Viactiv but it's calcium carbonate. ;)

Can I ask why calcium citrate rather than calcium carbonate? What's the benefit / difference? I was just told to add a calcium supplement without any extra details ;)

My understanding is that calcium citrate is better absorbed than calcium carbonate. The nurse practitioner, who specializes in nutrition, at my GP's office first advised me about calcium citrate a few years ago. Then the nutritionist in my surgeon's office gave the same advice.

I've also read that calcium carbonate can cause gas.

calcium can also cause constipation for those who are prone to it.

my Dr said to no to the gummies, I thought it was bc they would get stuck? Now I am not so sure

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! I'm going to do some internet searching based on the advice and see what I come up with.

I take Centrum Chewables-they are orange flavored and kinda gross at first but I got used to them. Now I hardly taste the orange flavor.
