Hey I’m new here and I finally found a doctor in my city who accepts my medicaid for Bariatric surgery. So I have a consultation. But I wanted to know the process of getting approved for surgery and the wait period of being approved for surgery.

That is all based on your insurance. I have no idea how Medicaid works. And people I know that has had the surgery with different insurance than me had way different requirements.

I know it’s late and perhaps you found out but depending on the state, you are required so many months seeing a doctor, dietitian and getting all your pre-screen approvals. (Like from cardio, psych, etc) Usually it’s between 3-6 months seeing them. Then you get the surgery. You also have to reach certain requirements or have 1 or more comorbidity such as high blood pressure, diabetes, etc.
