I just had it, and I am starving

Is it normal for me to be STARVING right after I have had the surgery? I just assumed I would be full after I ate.

I wasn't hungry for at least a week, maybe longer. It could be that you are a fast healer, because as your swelling goes down, your stomach starts to feel normal again. I was on clear liquids for a week and didn't get hungry at all. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Everyone is different so if I were you, I would not worry unless you are having other problems. It is possible that you did not have a lot of swelling.

When will I feel full? After I get my band filled?

It seems like I am full but so hungry at the same time. It's really weird.

hi mayreee -

I had my surgery on Thurs Nov 1st, and was hungry by Sun, and I wondered too if something was wrong. When the surgeon's nurse called to see how I was doing I told her how hungry I was, and she wasn't concerned about it, she just said that my swelling must have gone down fast. So each time I felt hungry I would drink something from the approved list of liquids, plus drank 3-4 Protein drinks a day. I was a little worried that I was consuming too much, but to my surprise - lost 6 lbs during the 2 weeks.

So you are not alone - I believe there are a lot of us newly banded people who are honestly hungry!

To be completely honest, it will probably be a little while before you feel full (it could be a totally different "full" than you are used to - for me it is more of a tightness in the chest area). I didn't start feeling any restriction untill my 2nd fill and who knows how long it will last. Some people only need one fill to feel restriction and for others it may take 5 or 6. It varies, but just hang in there.
