Just Banded today! Help!

So I was banded today and I am hurting so bad!! I got gas in my upper chest area where it feels like I am having a heart attack. My doctor never came and checked on me, so I am not sure what am I supposed to do. I walk around... luckily my stomach is not hurting that bad its just that compression in my chest... Anyone else have this or have any tips???

Thanks Ashley

Is there anyone around who can give you a back massage? It really helped me!

You're doing the right thing to walk. Take your pain meds, too! I hope it's gone soon!

I was banded on Tuesday. The gas will pass, keep taking the gas-x and your pain meds. I am off of the heavy pain meds and just taking ibuprofen and have no pain, just slight discomfort when coughing. It will get better.

Yup, Tylenol (acetominophen) only. The ibuprofen (Motrin) can increase the risk of ulcers and so soon after surgery, bleeding. I know orthopedic surgeons who won't allow it to be used after surgery for the bleeding risk.

Anyhoos, walk, walk, walk, and then walk some more. Get a heating pad and put it on your shoulder, or chest, or whatever is hurting. Gas-X strips are helpful for some people.

I guess every Dr. is different. I am reading my discharge papers and it says you can take over the counter liquid or chewable Tylenol or Ibuprofen for mild to moderate pain, but to be careful to not over use ibuprofen due to the potential to cause ulcers. I don't seem to need anything now that I am 3 days out. Thanks for the concern. Good luck to all.

the day of my surgery i walked every hour for 10 min to help with the gas pains, it really helped. so, i know you are sore, but if you can walk just a little that will help alot!!!! good luck and feel better.

banded on 11-5-07

lost 12 pounds to date

Try to have someone Burp you like a baby, by patting your back. Believe it or not, it REALLY worked for me.
