I am 7 weeks post opp and it seems like whenever I eat anything with any consitancy I cough the entire time am eating.I chew till mush.Anyone have same issue and did it go away with time?

  • This is not normal. May be an allergy to something? You should go back to your team & consult for sure

  • Sure hope it doesn't cause you to aspirate your food into your lungs. & That brings your problems to a new level. Better to find out it's nothing to worry about than risking your long-term health.

I had this a little bit, but it was acid reflux. I was on an antacid so there wasn't any burning sensation but the acid was coming up to my throat. Talk to your doc about adding another antacid if you are already on one (some of them you can take together and some you can't). It went away after a few months of taking 2 antacids 2X a day.
