Trouble keeping food log

Recommended Posts

I just started the program and I need to keep a food log. Is there an app that can help me with my Protein, fat.and calorie intake for my meals for the month that's easy to use?

I use Bariastic. It also has bariatric friendly recipes for different stages. It keeps up with calories, Protein, Water, weight, measurements, etc. It's super easy and simple to use. Not a bunch of bells and whistles. Some people can link it to their program and the dr's can see. Mine doesn't, but it's available for some people. It's a free app as well.

Oh, I forgot with the Bariastic, you can also time your chewing, between drinking and meals. It's a lot like My Fitness Pal, but like I said it's simple and focused on Bariatric consumers.

Thank you for this information! I just downloaded it myself! I am super excited to start logging liquids so i dont have to manually track

I tried Bariastic, and stayed with MyFitnessPal. I even subscribe to MFP for the extra features.

I prefer the MFP because it's simpler and less finger strokes to enter food, and I don't need to be hand held for chewing food.

I've always been hands free from my mobile while eating. I think the best thing is to try out the 2 recommended My Fitness Pal and Bariastic. Someone mentioned less key strokes for MFP and that was the whole reason I deleted it was there was too much going on and I just wanted a simple app to log foods. It felt more like a forum or social media than a simple site. But that's my opinion. I have checked out both. I'm sure there's more. I've even thought about going the old school route and just using plain pen and paper.

I know your question is in the pre-op. Pre-op, you eat a lot more food than post-op. Post-op I have been on normal foods for a long while now, and I generally eat right, so now I just mentally log my Protein (most important) and Water amounts on most days.

What's your experience w/the Dumping Syndrome?
      How long did it last?
      How did you cope w/it?
Has the dumping syndrome gotten worse each time more as the years go by?

I had the Gastric Bypass in 7/2015. The last couple of times i got the Dumping Syndrome twice last year, and once this year have been the worst. My last one was on Easter Sunday. I felt Fatigue, nauseous, gagging, shortness of breath, laid down holding my tummy, wanting to cry, feeling desperate, it got to a point where i basically was unconscious. Is it normal to fall asleep without no warning and waking up out of nowhere to "wth happened, how long was i out for"? It's gotten scary, and don't know if this is part of the dumping syndrome. I've had more times but not as bad as the last couple of times. 😢

When I get my surgery and lose weight I might write a book about my weight loss surgery so I can help anyone who started at my weight, or who think about getting the surgery.
