Is there a way--or, if there isn't a way, would the site admins consider please maybe implementing a way--to set it so that a user can change a setting on an individual thread and never ever see it again?

I don't mean "notifications off." I mean, even if people keep posting to it, it doesn't show up in the list of threads in the forum where it was posted or, ideally, in the trending boxes, either. I guess if someone tags a user inside a thread they've hidden, the user should probably get a notification(?), but if so, they should have the option to re-hide the thread if they want to.

There have been a few thread titles that I've found annoying or really gross, that I wish I could have hidden from myself, but I couldn't figure out how. I just had to keep hoping people would stop posting to them. Eventually, for most of them, that's happened, but some of those threads Just. Won't. DIE.

Please give me a way to make those threads seem dead to me, even if everyone else is enjoying them?

I would think it would be really hard to suit trending topics to each persons individual requirements.

If something is annoying then we have to learn to move on. If something is inappropriate then it should be reported and hopefully it will be taken down.

I think she's referring to the same option that is available on Facebook.

The only entity Facebook suits is itself and it’s advertsers, it certainly doesn’t make its newsfeeds suit its users requirements. If it did we would see status updates from all our family and friends instead of just a select few and we wouldn’t see all the sponsored rubbish.

Thank you, Alex! I really appreciate it!

elcee: Fun fact: I'm a developer (and a they, not a she, just as an fyi). In a lot of websites' code bases, it's pretty easy to set a thing so that a user never sees said thing, no matter what. It's like the thing was never there--everything below it just moves up a spot. Just like, as Ed suggested, Facebook does when a Facebook user blocks another user or hides content from a page. Easy breezy, nothing at all like "suit[ing] trending topics to each persons individual requirements" or anything difficult like that (which Facebook actually does try to do, in between making money for advertisers and data harvesters).

And it's not really cool for one person to say what another person should have to learn to live with. Something could be triggering to someone's PTSD or to their eating disorder, or it could be appropriate but really disgusting--there are lots of legitimate reasons for someone to want to hide content from themselves without having to report it as inappropriate, and I'm grateful that Alex is willing to work with his team to see if it's doable within this code base.

I don’t have an issue with it, as a non software wizard it just sounded like it would be really difficult. If it’s possible it would be great.

Ok I had surgery on Jan 27 2020 so I am 3 weeks out and have lost 32 lbs  I wish I had this done sooner. Now just trying to figure out different things to eat so I am not eating the same thing over and over. I did order some stuff today from the Bariatric Store and that stuff should be here in time for my next phase. I have a goal of 50 lbs by the first of June hope that is attainable. Good luck to every one on this journey

So went to my surgeon today for one month follow-up. Last time I was there he wanted me to put on 4kgs but oops I’ve lost another 2kgs. Told him it was intended, was trying to maintain, upped my food intake, was stable for almost 3 weeks but last weekend broke it.
Mum turned 80. Drinks at neighbours, a couple of crackers & dip, home late, no dinner. Out all morning, followed by celebratory family lunch, home late, no dinner. Whole dietary routine out the window. Did have a protein bar & tuna frittata muffin in between but didn’t eat much at all those two days.
What dumbfounded me was he was ok with it. I told him I didn’t want to put on his 4kg because of the weight gain many experience in the 12+months in maintenance. He agreed with me. What the??? Invasion of the body snatchers??? Totally opposite position from last month.
He was also ok with my stopping my multivitamins. Agreed with my thinking that is better to feel ok & eat then be nauseated & not eat. He’ll just monitor my bloods to ensure no problems which is what they do anyway.
      Not complaining.
