Sluggish

Hello, I'm 9 days post opt and otherwise ok. The only problem is I'm not regular anymore. Usually like clockwork every morning I'm able to have BMS but now, nothing. I called the on call Drs but no response and my surgeon is not back in the office until 8/15. Anyone ever experience this before and how did you deal with it?

Have you had any since surgery? I made a post about "my poop journey". I've been using miralax nightly and it helps. However, I would say mine is far from normal but I think that had to do with the mostly liquid diet.

Have you taken stool softener? I would start taking something soon.

Thanks, my husband is going to purchase it now. He spoke with our pharmacist and she suggest miralax.

Do you feel impacted? I had to use an enama because I was. It was pretty bad.

No, I just don't feel the need to go, if that makes sense. I pee alot but that's it. I don't feel bloated or anything.

Milk of magnesia to get you going and as needed. Miralax 1 to 2 times a day to keep you going. I would do this combo. Also magnesium citrate is a clear liquid in bottles in the pharmacy will get you unstopped up . That protein will do this and you will need to stay on top of this.

Miralax can take a few days to start working. Thats why we suggest other things that will work overnight before it gets worse.

I didn’t go for almost a week post op. Between the high protein diet, the anesthesia, opiates, they’re all going to cause constipation. Stool softeners didn’t help me, I also had to use an enema. It took me 10 days post op to become regular again. Good luck
YIPES,I'm pre surgery and sluggish. I was bull- headed, wanted to shrink my chubby NASH liver down to slender sweetness so am doing a PROLONGED prediet, and am reaping my folly, I am on every other day Miralax just to keep things marching along, sure don't go as often as when I was "ad lib". still not hard, but hard to go.TMI? You brought it up, was just going to suffer more quietly but I am MAKING my protein requirement.??
HELP Do they still sell Squatty Potty training in stores or is it only an Online item anymore????

Haha! They sure do! I bought a double pack from Costco online when this all started happening to me.

I was always very regular. Toward the end of the mostly liquid pre-op diet, my BMs became infrequent, and hard!

After surgery, I think it was 10 days before I had a movement, and it was a struggle. I started taking a stool softener/laxative combo (2/day), plus Metamucil (3/day).

Today is 11 weeks out for me (wow!). I'm still not a daily "goer" anymore, but it's getting better. And it's not a chore when I go anymore. I'm still on the softener/laxative + Metamucil regimen. Hopefully that's not forever.

I will admit, the more that I walk the more regular I am. Movement really is the key to movement. Hee. :)
