Hi! I had lap band in 2008 and I’ve now gained my post op weight back. I lost about 30 pounds but never got to my goal weight. I have PCOS which doesn’t help. My surgeon is recommending plication with my lap band or mini gastric bypass. I’m leaning towards plication to go the less invasive and less expensive route. Anyone have both lap band and plication experiences to share?

Thank you! I’m scheduled for Jan 14th I’m keeping my band in and I’m hoping with both I will be successful. The only way I could do a sleeve is self pay in Mexico and I’m not ready to do that yet.

Hiya! I didn’t have a band but my original surgery was a plication several years ago. It was still newish where I lived. While it was in place, it was great, but after time the stitches came undone and I had to have the whole thing reversed ( like the whole thing, it was not safe to keep it). After a few years I decided to have a sleeve done. I had the same doc both times and he no longer does the plication. Not fully sure why, but I think he thinks it’s not reliable long term.

When I was in hospital for my sleeve however ther was a woman who was operated on the same day as me by the same doc and she had a band to bypass revision.

I’m glad the sleeve was successful for you
