Ripping Pain

Has anyone had experience with lower left abdominal pain? It comes and goes. It was bad after surgery then went away for about a week, then today it was back again. It feels like ripping or pulling and stinging. They did a CT scan a week ago and everything was fine. Today I was stuck and couldnt move the pain was so bad. After 2 oxycodone I was able to get up...it was a terrible 2 hours. I did message my doctor, but was wondering if anyone had any insight into this?

I've been having a "pulling" pain, but it's on my lower right. I did a Google search and on another forum people were complaining of it and the consensus was it is pain from internal stitches. Mine has gotten somewhat better (I'm a week out from surgery) but I'm concerned that you say yours went away but came back. If it's terrible pain, maybe a trip to the ER is in order to rule out anything more serious. Hope you're ok!

Thanks! I thought originally it was something bad, so I went in and he did a CT said no leaks or infections. I thought it was behind me. It's so odd & discouraging. I'm 16 days post-op.

I'm sorry you're in pain. Hang in there!

I had this. My research revealed it can also be nerves healing. My pain was gone from my surgery then I got this burning tearing pain around week 2.5-3. It lasted 10 or so days.

I had my surgery on july 9th, so I'm still recovering too. Every once in a while I get what feels like a sharp poke (internally) on my left side. But - That was where my lap band port was, so I attribute it to that. For me, my left side is pretty pain free - my large incisions (two...I have 7 total) are on my right side. I can lay on my left side and pain is about (3/10). Right side is about (5/10). I'm a side sleeper, so I can't wait until I heal enough to tolerate it, this back sleeping is for the birds.
