I am 5 1/2 months post-op and still have pain as soon as food hits my sleeve. The pain does go away but the initial food hitting the stomach hurts for a moment. I am always very aware of my new stomach and its sensations. Does this sound normal to other people around the same post-op time?

It could be a stricture, it could be irritation from acid reflux? If it continues for 2 or 3 more months I would ask to be scoped or barium swallow. Try warm liquid just before eating so see if it relaxes the stomach muscle some.

Thank you! I actually had very bad reflux before surgery but my surgeon fixed my hernia as well and I haven't had any other problems with reflux. I'm definitely going to talk with my doctor about it.

I don't think thats a normal reaction to be honest. I have no pain when eating and I had surgery just over 2 months ago.
