I am one day out of surgery

See if your doctor can give you something for the nausea, either liquid or patch to help you out.

Are you on a PPI? And did your surgeon prescribe muscle relaxants for your stomach?

No muscle relaxers and not sure what a ppi is. I have gas drops and an acid reflux type of pill once a day, but still having trouble drinking

Your acid reflux pill is probably a PPI. I take prilosec twice a day. Since your stomach is a muscle to which you have just been extremely unkind, my surgeon prescribes a muscle relaxant for the first month to help it heal. I don't know whether that's common or not, but it might help.
