First reflux episode 2.5 weeks post op

I had my first reflux episode the other night (2.5 week post op) and it was nasty. I woke at 2:30 suddenly with a mouthful of yuk, which I instinctively tried to swallow... spent the next half hour upright and spitting a bit and trying not to be sick :( I had felt a bit off all day though, so something clearly wasn't sitting right with me all day, and then I made the mistake of taking my second multivitamin quite late just with my cup of tea, as I'd forgotten to take it with dinner. After it settled a bit, I had a few sips of water and cold milk to ease the burning, and then found some mylanta tablets. I was a bit scared to go back to bed, but thankfully had nothing further happen.

@Taoz

hi newbie

shout out to Australia!! Reflux is one of the possible worst side

effects of the sleeve (or different WLS) i can count on one hand

how many times i've experienced reflux in the past 6 years + since

i was sleeved. i've been lucky. I take meds to prevent reflux,

i will also sit up in bed (big cushion/pillow) to prop me op. I have

"accidentally";) eaten some chocolate before bed time. BIG no no!!

Ask doc to prescribe something to take to avoid the reflux. Sorry you

went through this experience. Hopefully, no more. Good luck

newbie with your sleeve.

kathy

Hey Taoz, we were sleeved very close together. Mine 5/3. I’m having the same problem. This is second time and first time lasted two days when I was still on protein shakes. I’d love to know if this is common the first month or so. I can’t figure out what’s causing it.
