I'm scheduled for surgery on June 7th and I just got a call from the hospital about pre-registration. They asked me how long I'll be in the hospital and asked me to pre-pay. I told her that I have no idea how long I'll be in the hospital, and asked why I couldn't be billed or pay when I'm checking out. My insurance is covering the surgery, but my insurance has a nightly co-pay for any stays under 5 days (if it's over 5 days then my insurance will pay 100% of the hospital stay). Has anyone else had to pre-pay?

I had to pre-pay around 1300 on the day of surgery. Insurance paid the rest. Never received another bill after that

I had to pre-pay for my surgeons fee that I paid beforehand which was about $600 but anything else was the copay that I paid at the hospital.

I would call your insurance company and verify the payments again and if they need an answer of nights, give them 2 and they should reimburse you or if you’re in there longer they can bill you. I can’t see this would be a huge issue though. If so, have your program coordinator call

I had a copay. I completed the pre registration and paid my co payment the morning of surgery
