work question

I was wondering...will my insurance (UHC) inform my work of my upcoming surgery? Are they entitled to do so?

I really didn't want them knowing and was going to use my vacation days instead of telling them.

Thanks and happy losing!!!

I suggest calling them to find out. I normally would think no because of HIPPA , but i learned at my last place of employment that the benefits coordinator and even the CFO can request information when calculating if there is a need to increase / decreade insurance coverage and costs. Does that make sense?

It does and thank you! I just didn't want to tell them or have them knowing nor did I want to get into any trouble by not telling them. People are so nosey here at work and the whole place would know if I'm not careful...lol
