Approval with Kaiser?!

I had my final pre-op appt. with the team & surgeon today and the surgeon was asking me if I was approved the first go round or if I had to appeal etc.

i told him no that I was just approved, no denial process. He asked because I am having a revision. There was no real approval process for me, I am just realizing this, with Kaiser. After the program, My surgeon said he would perform my revision and things progressed quickly in terms of scheduling my surgery, getting my prescriptions and all my pre-op work done. I did not have to wait days/weeks for an answer like I am reading most do.

So did anyone else with Kaiser ( I am with mid-Atlantic) not have a true approval process? Did your surgeon just say, “yes you’ll get the surgery” and moved right on?

Mine was that easy too. I just had to get a referral to the bariatric Dept from my PCP and go through the classes that teach about the surgeries, psyc appointment, nurse appointment, and meet my goal weight. As soon as I did that I got a date.
