Hair loss :(

I am 4 months post op (in 2 days) and my hair has recently started coming out in huge handfuls.. I am exceeding my protein goals every single day and take my multi vitamin and biotin everyday.. does anyone have any advice or something that has worked for you or helped with this? I am so depressed about it.. my hair has always been really long and thick and now it’s so thin and I’m terrified I’m going to lose it all. :( any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I just ordered some Nioxin today and picked up some biotin. I'm only on day 2/14 of my pre op liquid diet but i wanted to get a start on some of these things and hopefully it'll help lessen the effect

  • I started taking biotin around 3 months prior to having surgery.. I’m looking into Nioxin but unsure of which system to use since I have color and chemically treated hair.. :-/

  • I got level 4. I was unsure also and that one seem to best fit my needs. I have PCOS and already have thinning hair. So figured I'd go with that.

Me neither, I would look like Telly Savalas or even worse his fat, kinda ugly brother Frank. Last good looking bald person I saw was Yul Brynner and that goes back a while [emoji6]

On top of the hair loss, I’ve been at a stall for 2 weeks now.. so frustrating. If I eat and drink everything I’m supposed to and push myself during workouts, I don’t lose a thing.

You’ll get the weight loss going again

Think of it as your body catching its breath and realigning and then you'll jump forward into weight loss, it would be nice if weight loss was all smooth but instead it is fits, starts and spurts, worse than an out-of-tune old jalopy, isn't it? And when I have a stall, please remind me,okay?[emoji7]

I hope so! I set a goal to lose 30 more lbs between now and July 22 (my bday). At this rate I might lose 3 lbs between now and then! I will remind you if you have a stall.. I’m just extra frustrated right now. Work in one of the most stressful jobs known to man kind and then my hair falling out and my weight loss stalling.. just wish I could catch a break!

What do you do for work? And dont stress cause my mom learned the hard way that helped cause her stall. It’ll all be okay and work out.

Lex thank you for the service you do, wow you are right, that is a high stress environment and now it looks like you're pulling your hair out by the roots. Kid- I think you are WONDERFUL and I think I'm lucky to know you even if on line. Thank you for being you.!

I only take protonix for reflux since surgery. I called my surgeons office today and they gave me conflicting information.. I asked if I had any deficiencies that I was not told about in my blood work 3 weeks ago and everything was good with the exception of vitamin d, she said it wasn’t low to where I needed to supplement, but taking one every other day or so won’t hurt.. she told me to come in to be seen because most Bariatric patients don’t experience hair loss until 6-9 months post-op (which is where I felt conflicted since a lot of people on this forum have experienced hair loss around 3 months post-op). I have been using Ultrax Labs Hair Surge for 2 days now and taking silica supplements for 2 days as well. I didn’t have “as much” hair in the drain and my brush this morning as I did Friday/Saturday. I am hoping this is over quickly. I am going to my stylist Friday to cut 8” off my hair. Going from my butt to my shoulders :( I was hoping to go back blonde for summer too, but with as much as my hair is falling out, I’m terrified!
