First Appointment Tomorrow

Recommended Posts

So tomorrow is my first appointment with the surgeon. I’ve waited a month to meet with the doctor because I’ve wanted a specific surgeon and he had a month waiting list to get in. My insurance has pre-approved me already because I needed to go through them even before I had my first appointment but due to having UHC I have a six month period of meeting with a nutritionist first before I can have the surgery This is just a bummer for me because I was hoping for sooner rather than later. Can anyone give any advice on what to expect tomorrow with the surgeon and should there be any specific questions I should ask?

He'll probably ask why you want the surgery? What are your expectations from it, how committed are you to following his instructions and are you willing to follow a,more restricted diet the rest of your life? Do you understand your body will be permanently changed? Are you doing this for yourself or to please someone else? ,,,,,,,,.
You will probably, want to know how long his average patient stays in the hospital . Average is 1-2 days but I've heard on here anywhere from doing it as an b outpatient that was d omeone in Texas to 3 days. Will you have a weight restriction after surgery and for how long? When can you go up and down stairs? When can you drive again? Do you require a liquid diet before surgery? Most seem to but I've known who don't. Can I have a,loved one with me? Will I have a private or semi private room at your hospital? Will I see you again prior to surgery? I have known of people who saw surgeon, once and not again until the morning of surgery. One lady said it had been so long she barely recognized him! Those are what I can think of but I'm sure others may think of so n ething else.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
