What to expect?

Hello! I have spent weeks reading the threads on this forum so thank you all for sharing about your experiences. I have my dr. appointment tomorrow and I am trying to get a feel for what to actually expect. I’ve talked with the nurse in depth and she seemed fo think that with some of my medical records (frequent dr visits that focus on my weight) I may not need to start a 6 month weight plan. I may have documentation to prove my history already. Did any of you have that?

My insurance does cover this procedure but if I have to do a year or 6 months of more plans and such, that will be frustrating. Did any of you decide to self pay to avoid the long wait times?

I’m probably overthinking a lot but want to be super prepared for my appointment tomorrow.

  • 6 months goes faster than you think, I would not self-pay if the reason is the 6 month wait. You still have all the pre-op testing, psych eval, EDG, NUT appts, learning about food stages after surgery

6 months goes faster than you think, I would not self-pay if the reason is the 6 month wait. You still have all the pre-op testing, psych eval, EDG, NUT appts, learning about food stages after surgery, evaluating your relationship with food - there is NO magic here, major surgery with major life changes, it takes some strong thinking to be ready.

Good luck.

Thank you!! I should have mentioned that I will have my Psych eval done this week. I knew of all the requirements and set to work getting those done and ready. I just think I should have done it all while consulting with the dr simultaneously rather than checking items off a list and then calling to make my appointments. And here I thought my organization was being helpful. :)
