Each Dr. is different, but mine only allowed it if it was decaf.

I don't think I was allowed it, but I drank a cup of black tea each workday morning anyway. If the issue was potential dehydration, I was regularly drinking 96-128 oz of water a day, so I wasn't too worried.

Your mileage may vary depending on your doc - my program is fine with coffee and tea in the pre-surgery diet (no cream) and advises to limit caffeine post-op to avoid dehydration.

If you can, may I recommend using Premier Protein Caramel shake as your cream substitute. It's really good!

My doctor said no, but my aunt had this surgery before I did and she had it up until surgery. They don't want you to have it because you wont be able to have it after surgery for a while.
