craving sweets

i am 5 days post op. i was not what i would consider a sweet eater, although i should have probably evaluated that further because i was a sweet drinker. i was also glucose intolerant, so the few weeks before being banded i craved sweet drinks like crazy, and drank them.

so this is my problem. my blood sugar has been very low, so my doctor told me to drink some juice yesterday. well, i had juice again today and, unfortunately, i think today i will exceed 800 calories (most of it on gatorade, juice, etc.).

no, i am craving things. i cheated and had 2 mini sweetarts today. ugh!!! i never realized that the calories added up so fast until today after i had already had my juice, my gatorade, and my carnation instant Breakfast. lol --i have not been doing that every day.

is any one else having this problem. if so, do you have any suggestions? i know it is just a matter of refocusing, or eating something healthy that is sweet to satisfy that taste.

my dinner tonight will push me over the calorie threshold. i'm having pureed great northern Beans...nothing more but Water for me today.

I am also diabetic. Even without meds, my blood sugar level can crash at a moment's notice since being banded, so I asked my nutritionist about it, and she suggested to increase my Protein intake. This will help stabilize your blood sugar and help prevent spikes and crashes. It also helps keep you feeling fuller longer.

Welcome to bandland! Hope this helps!
