Anyone have gallbladder removed after VSG?

Recommended Posts

I've had two gallstone attacks. THE MOST PAINFUL EXPERIENCE THUS FAR. I see my surgeon tomorrow for my 3 month follow up to discuss getting my gallbladder taken out because I can't keep dealing with this pain. Some questions though...

1. How long were you out of work post-gallbladder removal surgery?

2. How are your scars? Did they get worse after VSG and gallbladder surgery or do they look the same as they did post VSG?

3. Recovery pain similar to VSG or worse?

4. Did you gain weight post gallbladder removal? Are you still gaining? How has it impacted you?

Thanks in advance!

I can't answer these questions, but if you're worried about scars, look into single incision gall bladder surgery. Where I'm at, we have 2 practices that use the DaVinci system, it's out patient and there is only 1 incision in your belly button. I already have them in my phone in case mine starts acting up. They might not be able to do this in an emergency situation, but for routine scheduled, this is what I hope for.

Best of luck!

I'm going to be having mine out but I'm trying to hold off until February. I don't have any stones, mine just isn't working properly so my surgeon says we can push it out as long as I see him every 3 months until then. What my surgeon told me is the recovery should be easier, he said I should only need 1 week off of work and that the scars will be minimal. I had a lap appy back in 2008 and you can't even see the scars from that anymore and I had 3. He did say that it might effect what I can eat but the foods it would effect I shouldn't be eating anyway.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
