Hey All,

I finally had my appointment with the nutritionist at Kaiser Permanente Sunnyside in Oregon. When I mentioned ways I had learned to add extra protein after surgery, she acted very confused and asked why I would need more after surgery. I was startled by the questions as this seems to be a huge factor for life after surgery. She simply replied that most Americans get more protein than is needed already. Does anybody have any insight on this? I have searched the internet and haven't found much that applies. Thanks in advance.

Women should also have 60+ grams of protein per day. We were told over and over again that is a requirement for life before and after surgery in our educational classes. My Lapband to RNY surgery was done in July at the Honor Health Center for Bariatric Excellence in Scottsdale, AZ.
