Pre-op diet difficulty

I have gastroparesis and am having trouble with the pre-op diet. Some days I'm so nauseous all I can get in is a bit of water and some crackers. Unfortunately, carbs are easier on my stomach. And I've found I can't do any of protein drinks/powder that have artificial sweeteners and flavors- they make me so sick. I've lost about 10 lbs.

So here's my question- has anyone's surgeon actually postponed or cancelled surgery because of non-compliance with the pre-op diet?

I'm pre op too but I've heard of surgeons not operating because the liver is too big, or they can even stop during your surgery. Crazy I know. Call up your doctor now and tell them what's going on, they could help you figure things out and get you back on the right track for surgery so you don't have to push your surgery further.

Good luck!
