I have a surgery date!

July 28th! This means I get to start the liquid diet on the 14th. I'm not breathing into a paper bag yet, but I suspect I'll be spending a lot of time here with folks who know about these things.

Pre op diet is not the best, but it helps with surgery. I felt much better with having my all liquid diet after surgery. I felt much more prepared. I'm only 2 weeks post op and just started mushies 2 days ago and the all liquids was not bad at all.

Congratulations on your date! You can do this! Keep us posted and feel free to post or message me if I can help!

I have officially survived day 1 of the liquid diet. It was rough, but at least I'm one day down. Good news is, I'm not the least bit worried about actual surgery and physical recovery, that will be the easy part compared to two weeks of protein shakes.

I hear you!! I'm more worried about the 2 week liquid diet than I am about surgery and recovery. I don't have my surgery date yet, but will be some time in August. I've already been doing smoothies to replace at least 1 meal per day since May, just to get used to it a bit.

How was day 2 for you? From what everyone says, the first 2-3 days are the toughest. I'd love to hear how you're doing!

Well, it's the end of day 3 and I don't feel like eating - which is new for me. So far, advant-edge shakes have been good (I prefer the chocolate based flavors), and I've been making my own cream of tomato soup (to which I add unflavored protein powder), which is tasty and reminiscent of real food (I use fresh tomatoes, onions, garlic, and basil, which I strain out at the end). Tonight, I couldn't finish my mug of soup. The heat probably has something to do with that!

What type of unflavored protein powder are you using?

Oh my goodness yes! Throw me a Xanax my surgery is 7/24 and a lot of things are becoming real! somehow today I'm most nervous at the prospect of not being able to tolerate fruit! I had a fruit funneral! I ate a necterine and an apricot and a bunch of fruits for the week! I can't help but be sad at the thought... (I went to my very first support group which brought a mixture of anxiety fear and relief some people talked about the inability to tolerate fruit. I can handle the idea of no sugar but no fruit that's kinda crazy)...

It's just something I picked up at GNC in the mall, unflavored whey protein powder. I can't remember the name of it, but it was on sale. It actually does have a bit of a cheesy/dairy flavor to it, but is good in chicken broth - if stirred really, really well!

PS first time ever in a GNC, always felt awkward as a person of size. But, I think I'm done feeling that way. I'm somebody's mother. They don't like seeing a fat lady buying supplements, not my problem.
